Our Story

The idea for the MHS Black Former Students Network was formed in 2019 after the 30th reunion for the MHS Class of 1989. During the event some of our founders noticed that as other alumni were re-connecting and networking, there was something missing. There were only two black alumni present. They saw how the other members from the Class of 1989 were using this time, not only to re-connect, but also to network. The MHS BFSN was born on Facebook in 2020 as a way for black MHS alumni to reconnect. Soon that vision grew to include giving back through scholarships and creating a professional network. We’ve now rebranded to the Black Alumni of Martin High School as we continue connecting and contributing to the community we’ve created.
